I'm Josie, owner and photographer behind Moxie Artistry and an all-inclusive DFW-based wedding and portrait photographer. Moxie: it's not just a name, but a vibe. It sums up who I am and who I'm aiming to be as an artist: bold, fearless, genuine, and ✨creative✨. I picked this moniker to represent the courage to express, celebrate life's awesomeness, and create art that speaks both outward and touches inward. If I were to describe my style in a few words, I'd have to choose 'warm', 'vibrant', 'moody' and 'classic' - with some 'editorial' thrown in the mix; I do love me some candids and in-the-moment shots intermingled with the posed ones.

I'm a big fan of natural light (especially golden hour!) as well as using my flashes off-camera when needed, or when I have a specific vision.

When I'm not photographing pretty things, you can probably find me either tending to my many houseplants, in my garden, or taking long, wistful walks down the aisles at Trader Joe's.
I'm a lover of comedy and good wine, with 3 adorable fur-babies: Jasper, Rosie, and Alice. If you ever feel like you need to ask if you can include your pet(s) in our session, please assume the answer will unequivocally be "YES!". I love animals, and I absolutely adore when clients include them in their portraits - they're a part of the family too. ♡

As your photographer, I'm not just here to snap your pic. I want you to feel like you're hanging out with a friend. I'll hype you up and help you realize how awesome you're doing and do whatever silly thing I can to not only get you to laugh, but to also make you feel comfortable. We're all just here to get some awesome photos, so why not also get silly goose time out of it too? •ᴗ•

my approach

Step 01.

FILL OUT THE FORM

Once you’ve made up your mind and completed the contact/inquiry form, I will get back to you as soon as possible.
(Usually within 24 hours, unless there's a zombie apocalypse or our internet is out. Then, maybe 48 hours.)

Step 02.

CHAT IT UP

So everyone feels comfortable and accustomed to each other, we’ll have a quick chat (either by text, phone, Zoom - whatever fits your fancy) to get to know each other, discuss expectations, and plan everything out.

Step 03.

PICTURE TIME

Yayy the big day!
We’ll meet at our location spot, connect, I'll be telling you to "laugh like you just heard something hilarious" when, in fact, no one said anything hilarious, hype you up like the baddie you are, and create some awesome art together!

Step 04.

DELIVERING PHOTOS

In up to 4 weeks (8 for weddings), you will receive your edited pictures in a gallery that you'll be able to download in any size you'd like.
Your gallery link will be active for 3 months to allow you time to share, download, and get your prints done. (For weddings, the gallery is live for 1 year.)

SELF-CARE IN AN ARTFUL FORM

This is not just about taking photos or even the images themselves; it's about you. Let go of posing and feeling rigid when facing the camera and instead envision taking a walk with an old friend (who just so happens to carry a camera) and going on a photo adventure together.

My approach is natural and unhindered, with the sole aim of capturing your authentic vibe and preserving it as art you'll be able to look back on and cherish for many years to come.

Depending on the session type*, more neutral, solid-colored clothing is typically best. We don't want logos or bright colored garments to distract from the beauty we're trying to create.
Pro-tip: Pinterest is a great tool to use in searching for photosession outfits!

The amount depends on the contracted session; I always give a guaranteed baseline expectation when communicating with my clients. I also outline this on my "Investment" page!

Absolutely! I love travelling for sessions and weddings. Some of my most favorite photos were taken on destination weddings. When we chat, I'll give an estimated cost of travel alongside the session fee.
