An Intimate Wedding at The Little Chapel in the Woods

On a warm afternoon in May, Jackie and Isaac said “I do” at one of the most charming venues in North Texas – The Little Chapel in the Woods in Denton, TX. It was a wedding day full of heartfelt moments, artistic details, and just the right touch of quirky fun that truly reflected who they are as a couple.

I met Jackie while she was getting ready in one of the nearby campus buildings, surrounded by her closest friends. The energy was calm and joyful – exactly the kind of vibe you hope for on a wedding day. With everyone in good spirits, we captured a few laid-back moments before making the short five-minute walk to the chapel.

Now, I’d seen plenty of photos of the Little Chapel in the Woods online, but experiencing it in person was something else entirely. This Denton wedding venue is truly a hidden gem – intimate, moody, and full of character. The space is small and dark, with most of the light coming from overhead chandeliers and a few flickering candles. To help brighten up the ceremony, I set up a pair of off-camera flashes at the altar, letting the beautiful stained glass windows and soaring ceilings take center stage. It’s one of those rare spaces that feels sacred and cinematic all at once.

After the ceremony and family portraits, Jackie, Isaac, and I snuck away for some intimate bride and groom portraits. I had so much fun leaning into the dramatic lighting and using creative flash setups to make the most of the chapel’s moody aesthetic. We also ventured outside to shoot near a nearby greenhouse and took a stroll through the local park. But honestly, my favorite images came from pushing myself creatively in that low-light space – it was a dream for anyone who loves an editorial, artistic style of photography.

The celebration continued at the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival building, nestled inside an art gallery. Jackie and Isaac had an open bar and a boba bar (yes, really!), plus an absolutely unforgettable dinner catered by Zander House. The Vietnamese cuisine was served family-style with a seemingly endless spread of flavorful dishes – hands down, the best wedding meal I’ve ever had. I’m not exaggerating when I say this wedding made it into my top five just for the food alone.

But they didn’t stop there. Instead of the usual dancing or bouquet toss, the couple hosted an epic karaoke night! Guests were invited to pick their favorite songs and sing along to lyrics projected on the wall. It was hilarious, heartwarming, and such a perfect reflection of their fun-loving personalities.

This day reminded me exactly why I love photographing weddings like this – intimate, unique, and full of heart. I’m so thankful Jackie and Isaac trusted me to capture their story. If you’re planning a wedding at the Little Chapel in the Woods or anywhere in Denton, I’d love to help you document it in a way that feels true to you.
