Intimate Wedding at Soma Winery | Fort Worth Wedding Photography

Shannon and TJ celebrated their wedding with a relaxed, intimate afternoon at Soma Winery in Fort Worth, Texas. With just two hours of coverage and around 30 of their closest people there, it felt less like a traditional wedding and more like a laid-back brunch with a ceremony woven in: simple, meaningful, and completely centered around them.

From the start, you could tell how much TJ adores Shannon. The way they interacted was effortless and natural, which really set the tone for the entire day.

A Perfect Intimate Wedding Venue in Fort Worth

Soma Winery is such a great option for couples planning a smaller, more personal wedding in Fort Worth. The space has a clean, open layout with partially exposed brick walls that give it a nice rustic-industrial feel without being overdone.

Everything took place indoors, which worked out perfectly—especially since it ended up being unusually hot for a Saturday in March. One of the best features of the space is the natural light. The sun poured through the windows and lit everything up beautifully, which made a huge difference for both the ceremony and portraits. Even though I gave some direction to keep things moving efficiently, Shannon and TJ didn’t need much – they were naturally connected, and it showed in every shot.

Their chemistry made everything easy. Nothing felt stiff or overly posed, which is always the goal.

And one of the more fun details from the day – TJ brought his Lamborghini and parked it out front, which made for a pretty cool exit setup.

Another big plus is how simple everything is. You can have your ceremony, hang out, enjoy drinks, and celebrate all in one place. And since it’s right in downtown Fort Worth, guests have plenty of options if they want to continue the celebration afterward!

A Relaxed, No-Rush Wedding Day

There wasn’t a strict timeline, and honestly, that’s what made the day so enjoyable. Everyone just hung out: talking, laughing, eating, and enjoying each other’s company.

The ceremony itself took place inside. It was short, easy, and fit perfectly into the flow of the day without feeling like a big production. Afterward, everyone just kept hanging out like they had been before. At one point, Shannon, her dad, and her sister were even watching a live basketball game on a laptop during the reception! That pretty much summed up the vibe: comfortable, laid-back, and fun.

Why Intimate Weddings Just Work

Weddings like this are a great reminder that you don’t need a full-day timeline or a huge production to have something meaningful.

When you keep things small:

  • You spend more time with the people who matter most
  • The day feels less rushed
  • There’s more room to just be present and enjoy it

From a photography standpoint, it also allows for a more relaxed experience overall. I’m able to give direction when needed, keep things moving efficiently, and help couples feel comfortable without everything feeling overly structured—even when we’re working around challenges like heat or a full indoor space.
