Some love stories start in adulthood.
Some start in high school.
Esmeralda and Hector are high school sweethearts — the kind of love that grows up together, weathers seasons, and chooses each other again and again. Recently, they celebrated their joyful Dallas courthouse wedding at the North Dallas Government Center in Dallas, Texas.

A Dallas Courthouse Wedding Full of Personality
The North Dallas Government Center is honestly such a beautiful location for a courthouse wedding. The building itself feels clean, modern, and welcoming. Additionally, the courtroom where their ceremony took place was just as lovely.
I arrived a little early to set up my gear in Judge Adam Swartz’s courtroom. Meanwhile, he was preparing as well. But instead of camera gear, he was setting up a full music playlist for the couple.
And not just background music. Oh no, no.
He had an entrance song ready, he had a kiss-and-exit song ready…..and yes, of course it was the fabulous Whitney Houston’s “Dance with Somebody”!
It was such a thoughtful touch. As a result, it set the tone for something that felt joyful, intentional, and personal.
Judge Swartz is incredibly kind-spirited and genuinely funny. Once he officially pronounced Esmeralda and Hector husband and wife, he pulled out a bubble gun and filled the courtroom with bubbles. It was unexpected, joyful, and completely original.
Clearly, you could tell he truly cares about making courthouse ceremonies feel special, and it shows.

A Bold, Dark Romance
Esmeralda chose a stunning black and red wedding dress – dramatic, romantic, and unapologetically her. The deep tones felt powerful and striking against the clean courthouse backdrop. However, what she was most excited about? Winter.
After the ceremony, we headed to Turtle Creek Park in downtown Dallas. Fortunately, the timing could not have been more perfect. Because it’s mid-February, the trees were mostly bare. Their branches stretched against the sky in that quiet, skeletal way only winter can create.
She specifically wanted a darker, moodier atmosphere – a “goth” aesthetic with touches of cottagecore: stripped-back trees, muted grass, a quiet stone bridge, and a landscape that felt almost hauntingly still, even with the surrounding cityscape nearby. And indeed, it delivered.
The contrast between her black and red gown, the muted winter tones, and the white of Arlington Hall created something cinematic, romantic, and intentional. In this way, these weren’t just portraits. They were storytelling in its purest form.
From “I Do” to Turtle Creek Park
It was our first time at Turtle Creek Park. Surprisingly, it was peaceful for a Friday afternoon in Dallas. This gave us the freedom to explore without rushing. As a result, we discovered what a hidden gem it truly is.
The light filtering through the trees, the peaceful pathways, the city tucked just beyond the greenery – it gave us such a beautiful contrast to the modern courthouse setting. Then, we wandered, explored, and found little pockets of quiet beauty everywhere.
The Beauty of a Simple Dallas Courthouse Wedding
That’s what I loved most about their day.
They didn’t try to make their elopement look like anyone else’s. Instead, they embraced what felt authentic. First, a courthouse ceremony filled with bubbles and Whitney Houston. Then, dramatic winter portraits created a dark romantic aesthetic.
It was simple. Personal. Intentional.
And completely theirs.
