As a wedding and portrait photographer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, a Fort Worth engagement session is easily one of my favorite types to photograph. There’s just something about capturing couples in this season of life that feels effortless and genuine. You can truly feel the connection between them, and Michaela and Jimmy were no exception.
Starting at the Fort Worth Courthouse
We kicked things off at the Tarrant County Courthouse, which gave us the perfect mix of architecture and character. Michaela had mentioned wanting photos in a fancy elevator.
Typically, I would shoot at The Sinclair Hotel for that look. However, they’ve recently updated their policies and now charge a fee for professional photography.
Thankfully, the courthouse has a stunning gold elevator – and it’s completely free to use. So, it ended up being a perfect alternative.
With Jimmy in a suit and Michaela in a white, sequin-covered cocktail dress, the entire setting leaned into a subtle vintage feel. The way her dress caught the light added just enough sparkle, giving everything a soft Old Hollywood vibe.

A Stop at Sundance Square Pavilion
After the courthouse, we made our way over to Sundance Square Pavilion.
This space is one of my favorite spots downtown. It’s essentially a glass pavilion filled with natural light and greenery – almost like a greenhouse in the middle of the city! Because of that, it offers a completely different look without needing to travel far.
As a bonus, if you love plants as much as I do, it’s hard not to enjoy shooting here. It’s the perfect blend of clean architecture and organic texture, which works beautifully for couples.
Next, we stopped under the cinema lights nearby – and for once, they were actually on.
I swear, every other time I pass by, the bulbs are off. So naturally, we took full advantage of it.
Between the glow of the lights and their outfits, this part of the session really leaned into that Old Hollywood aesthetic we had going earlier. It tied everything together in a simple but intentional way.

Ending a Fort Worth engagement session at a bar
To wrap up the evening, we headed to The Usual.
This location wasn’t just about the look—although the moody bar setup and wall of bottles made for an incredible backdrop. It also held meaning for them. This is where they had their first date, and where their story really began.
So, we kept things relaxed and natural. They grabbed drinks, sat at the bar, and just enjoyed the moment together. Those are always the images that feel the most personal.
