A Warm, Intentional Day at The 1906

The 1906 wedding for Taylor and Reid in Whitesboro, Texas unfolded with the kind of ease you can’t really manufacture – it just is. From the moment I arrived, the day carried a calm, grounded energy. Everything felt a little more meaningful and a little more present.

Late February in Texas can go either way, but this day surprised us with warmth. Not the harsh, mid-summer kind – just enough to soften the air and invite people to linger. Guests moved slowly, conversations stretched a little longer, and nothing felt rushed or overly structured. It set the tone for everything that followed.

The Setting: Soft Light and Old-World Charm

Inside The 1906 Wedding Venue

If you’ve never experienced The 1906 wedding space in person, it has this old-world chapel feel that immediately quiets the room in the best way.
Inside, the stained glass windows filter in light that shifts throughout the day. It’s soft, colorful, and a little moody in a way that photographs beautifully without trying too hard.

There’s an intimacy to the space that encourages connection. Nothing feels oversized or excessive. Every corner feels considered, which means you don’t have to work to “fill” the room – it already holds its own.

The reception space carries that same intention. It’s cozy, curated, and inviting; the kind of place where people naturally gather close, where laughter carries, and where the energy stays centered on what actually matters.

A Meaningful Start to the Day

Honoring the Ones Who Should Be There

One of the most impactful details from the day was a small table. Taylor had set it up in honor of loved ones who had passed, which held old photographs, including images of her father, who she lost when she was very young.

Because of that, it didn’t need to be announced or explained – it simply existed, quietly anchoring the space in memory and love.

That moment stayed with me in a personal way. Having recently lost my own father, there was a shared understanding there that didn’t require words. It’s one of those things that subtly shapes how you see and document a day – more awareness, more care, more intention behind what you choose to preserve.

A Connection That Made Everything Flow

Taylor and Reid came to me through a mutual friend, and from the beginning, everything felt easy. Over the course of the year leading up to their wedding, Taylor and I built a connection that went beyond logistics – we just got each other.

That kind of familiarity changes the way a wedding feels from my side of the camera. It doesn’t feel like stepping into something new – it feels like being invited into something personal. There’s a level of trust that allows me to move more intuitively, to anticipate moments instead of chasing them.

Photographing the Day as It Naturally Unfolded

Slowing Down Where It Matters

My approach to this The 1906 wedding was simple: stay present, move with intention, and give the day space to breathe.

I focused on slowing down in the moments that mattered most – details thoughtfully chosen, portraits that felt natural instead of forced, and those in-between interactions that often say the most. While I always aim to work efficiently, this wasn’t a day to rush through.

Taylor and Reid’s wedding wasn’t built around spectacle or big, dramatic moments. It was rooted in connection, memory, and presence.

And honestly, those are the days that stay with you.

The way someone reaches for a hand without thinking. The quiet pause before a ceremony begins. The laughter that bubbles up unexpectedly during a toast. Those are the moments that don’t demand attention in real time – but end up meaning everything later.
