Meeting Jessica and Marcin at their beautiful home
I met Jessica and Marcin on a hot—and let’s be real, humid—late May day at their lush, private property in Texas. Jessica had reached out about booking a session at their brand-new place, and I was immediately in. It ended up being such a fun example of lifestyle pregnancy announcement photography, which I always enjoy adding into the mix of what I get to do.
Their home felt like something out of a movie. Surrounded by tall trees and thick, vibrant greenery, it had major Twilight vibes (iykyk). The open-concept layout, with floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, gave us dreamy, natural light and a peaceful view of the forest.
Unique Stories and Personal Touches
When I arrived, Jessica was still getting ready, so I got a chance to chat with Marcin—and wow, what an interesting couple; He’s an exotic animal breeder and she breeds exotic spiders! I loved hearing about the animals they’ve raised and the shows they’ve traveled to, showcasing everything from snakes and alligators to fuzzy (and genuinely adorable) tarantulas.
They share their property with a whole crew—chickens, goats, an emu (!), and four sweet dogs, one of whom made a little cameo in our session.
Jessica and I also bonded over plants (she has a stunning collection of plant babies around every window and on the fireplace mantle) and our mutual love for Trader Joe’s. She even picked up several fresh floral bouquets for the session—peonies, her favorite, were front and center.
A Joyful and Authentic Session
The backyard was full of foliage and trees, giving us soft dappled light and plenty of cozy corners to shoot in. The whole session felt relaxed, authentic, and so full of joy. Jessica and Marcin’s connection is the kind of love that radiates—eclectic, easy, and totally magnetic.
Sessions like this remind me why I’m grateful for the variety in my work. Lifestyle pregnancy announcement photography gives me the chance to slow down, be creative, and document the quieter, more intimate milestones in people’s lives.
