10 North Texas Wedding Venues I love as a Dallas Fort Worth Wedding Photographer

As a Dallas Fort Worth wedding photographer with more than 15 years of experience, I’ve photographed everything from big traditional weddings and moody historic chapels to intimate courthouse ceremonies and celebrations that completely threw the rulebook out the window.

And after spending years photographing weddings across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, I’ve definitely developed a few favorite North Texas wedding venues!

If you’re newly engaged and trying to figure out where the heck you’re actually going to get married, this list is for you. I’ve included everything from historic churches and grand estates to modern venues and courthouse options for couples who want something a little more intimate.

Some are dramatic and moody. Some are bright, airy, and colorful. Some are perfect for a 200-person party, while others are better suited for just you and your favorite people.

Basically: there’s a little something for everyone. 😉

Marty Leonard Chapel – Fort Worth, TX

If dramatic architecture is your thing, Marty Leonard Chapel needs to be on your list.

I photographed a wedding here recently, and the sheer scale of the chapel is honestly hard to appreciate until you’re standing inside it. The soaring ceilings, geometric lines, huge windows, and soft natural light create a space that feels both modern and almost cathedral-like at the same time.

From a photography standpoint, there is SO much to work with! You can lean into the symmetry and architecture for something dramatic and editorial, or step back and let the scale of the chapel completely surround the couple.

The property also has beautiful outdoor areas for portraits, and the nearby Amon Carter Center makes it easy to move from the ceremony into the reception without sending everyone across Fort Worth.

It’s elegant without feeling stuffy, unique without being overly trendy, and easily one of the most visually impressive North Texas wedding venues I’ve photographed.

Tarrant County Courthouse – Fort Worth, TX

Not every wedding needs a ballroom and 150 guests.

For couples planning something small, the historic Tarrant County Courthouse in downtown Fort Worth gives you an incredibly beautiful backdrop while keeping the day simple.

The pink granite, dramatic steps, clock tower, and historic architecture photograph beautifully, especially when you pair the ceremony with portraits around downtown Fort Worth afterward.

That’s one of my favorite things about courthouse weddings: you can make the day as simple or elaborate as you want. Get married at the courthouse, wander over to Sundance Square for portraits, grab cocktails somewhere nearby, and finish the night with dinner with your favorite people.

Small does not have to mean boring.

If you want an intimate Fort Worth wedding without committing to a traditional venue, the courthouse gives you plenty of personality while keeping the focus exactly where it belongs – on getting married.

The Gardenia – Valley View, TX

The Gardenia is for couples who love clean, modern spaces but still want plenty of nature around them.

Located on a large private property in Valley View, the venue combines bright white architecture with huge windows, open countryside, a waterfront pond, and tons of natural light.

And you already know how photographers feel about giant windows. 😆

The chapel is climate controlled—which is a pretty important detail when we’re talking about weddings in Texas—and the reception space keeps that same bright, polished look while still giving couples plenty of room to make the space their own.

The property also gives you a lot of variety for portraits without needing to leave the venue. You can go from clean architectural images to softer outdoor portraits around the water and open landscape.

If your style leans modern, romantic, and a little more minimalist, The Gardenia is definitely one of the North Texas wedding venues worth checking out.

The 1906 Venue – Whitesboro, TX

Why the Chapel Photographs So Beautifully

Located in the heart of Whitesboro, The 1906 Wedding & Event Venue is one of those spaces that immediately feels different from your typical North Texas venue. It’s a fully restored historic church from, you guessed it, 1906, and they’ve kept so much of the original character intact while updating it in a way that actually works for a wedding day.

The chapel is really the focal point here. Between the stained glass windows, original hardwood floors, and vaulted ceilings, the space has a moodier, more romantic feel compared to the bright white venues you see everywhere. The light that comes through the stained glass shifts throughout the day, which gives you a lot of depth and variation in photos without having to do much at all.

Another thing that stands out is how everything is contained within one building. You’ve got the chapel, reception space, and even a lower-level lounge for cocktail hour all connected, plus getting-ready suites on site. From a timeline standpoint, that makes the day feel a lot smoother – less travel, fewer moving parts, and more time to actually be present instead of constantly transitioning locations.

It’s also a great fit for more intimate weddings. The space comfortably holds around 100–150 guests, which keeps things feeling full and intentional rather than spread thin. And because the design leans more neutral and historic, it photographs well with pretty much any style you bring into it.

If you’re drawn to a space with a little more depth – something romantic, slightly moody, and rooted in history – this is easily one of the more unique venues you’ll find in North Texas.

Soli Deo Gloria – Decatur, TX

Tucked away just outside Decatur, Soli Deo Gloria Weddings & Events offers a quiet, nature-filled setting that feels removed from the city without making guests drive forever to get there. The property is surrounded by mature oak and cedar trees, and with over 25 acres, it has that more private, tucked-away feel that’s harder to find closer to the DFW metroplex. It also gives you plenty of space to move around for portraits without feeling rushed or like you’re hopping from spot to spot.

One of the biggest standouts here is the chapel. Built using reclaimed wood from a historic 1908 church, it has a lot of natural character, but what really makes it work is the light. The large windows and sliding glass doors bring in a soft, even glow that photographs beautifully throughout the day. You get the structure and comfort of an indoor ceremony, but it still feels open and connected to the outdoors -which, especially in Texas, makes a huge difference!

The layout of the venue flows really well, too. Everything is close enough to keep the day moving smoothly, but spread out enough that it never feels crowded. From a photography standpoint, that means less downtime, better transitions, and more time for the moments that actually matter.

If you’re drawn to a space that feels a little more calm and intentional – with great natural light, a unique ceremony space, and room to breathe – this is definitely one to have on your list in North Texas.

Parker County Courthouse – Weatherford, TX

The Parker County Courthouse is another favorite option for intimate weddings, especially for couples west of Fort Worth who want something simple without sacrificing a beautiful setting.

Built in the 1880s, the historic courthouse sits right in the middle of downtown Weatherford and has the kind of architecture that instantly gives wedding portraits a classic Texas feel.

I recently photographed a courthouse wedding here where we started the morning with portraits at Chandor Gardens before heading downtown for the ceremony. I absolutely loved that setup.

That’s really the beauty of a Weatherford courthouse wedding: you can build an entire experience around it. Start with portraits somewhere beautiful, have your ceremony at the courthouse, then head somewhere nearby for dinner or drinks afterward.

It’s relaxed, flexible, and perfect for couples who care more about having a meaningful day together than checking off every traditional wedding expectation.

Stoney Ridge Villa

Okay, technically I haven’t photographed a wedding at Stoney Ridge Villa yet – but I have photographed an engagement session here, and after spending time around the property, it absolutely earned a spot on this list!

The venue has such a fun Mediterranean-inspired feel, with lots of texture, color, greenery, and architectural details that give you way more variety than the typical all-white wedding venue. And yes, the iconic staircase and railings are every bit as good for photos as they look.

I loved getting to explore the property with one of my couples during their engagement session, and it immediately became one of those venues where I thought, “Okay, I need to photograph a full wedding here!” (which I will come March 2027, but I couldn’t wait to add it, ha.)

There are so many opportunities for romantic, editorial portraits while still having enough character in the surroundings to make the images feel interesting and different.

So if you’re planning a Stoney Ridge Villa wedding and happen to need a photographer… hi. 🙋‍♀️ I would very much like to come back!

Knotting Hill Place – Little Elm, TX

Knotting Hill Place is basically for couples who want to go BIG.

The European-inspired estate in Little Elm is full of grand architectural details, soaring ceilings, chandeliers, sweeping staircases, huge indoor spaces, and plenty of opportunities for dramatic wedding portraits.

The main ballroom alone has ceilings reaching more than 50 feet, so the entire venue has that larger-than-life feeling from the second you walk inside.

This is the type of space that works beautifully for editorial-style photography. Give me a dramatic gown, one of those staircases, and a little time to play with lighting and I will happily disappear for a while.

There are also indoor and outdoor ceremony options, which is always a huge plus in Texas. You can have the outdoor ceremony you dreamed about without having to panic quite as much when the forecast inevitably decides to become personally offensive.

For couples planning a larger celebration who want something luxurious, dramatic, and unapologetically grand, Knotting Hill Place absolutely delivers.

Bella Cavalli Events – Aubrey, TX

Where Bella Cavalli Really Stands Out

If you’re looking for a modern rustic wedding venue in North Texas that combines elegance with an unforgettable guest experience, look no further than Bella Cavalli in Aubrey, TX. I had the absolute best time photographing a wedding here, and I’ve been dying to go back ever since!

Bella Cavalli is truly one-of-a-kind. The indoor reception space is spacious and warm, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in an abundance of natural light—an absolute dream for wedding photos. Upstairs, there’s a generously sized bridal suite that provides plenty of space for getting ready in comfort and style.

But where Bella Cavalli really shines is outdoors. This venue is a must for animal lovers—just steps from the main ballroom is a private petting zoo that guests can visit during the event. From goats and alpacas to exotic animals, it’s a whimsical and interactive experience that sets this venue apart. You can even upgrade your package to include a romantic Friesian horse-drawn carriage ride—yes, seriously!

(Fun fact: the owner, Joni Kuhn, performed with her Royal Friesian Horses in Catching Fire, the second installment of The Hunger Games franchise!)

The property itself is set on rolling hills with a beautiful lake and fountain, perfect for outdoor ceremonies or sunset portraits. There’s also a charming bistro garden area that’s ideal for cocktail hour or an al fresco dinner setup.

From an editorial photography perspective, Bella Cavalli offers so many unique backdrops, from lush nature views to animal encounters and wide-open Texas skies. It’s a place that feels magical and personal, with so much room for creativity and connection.

Whether you’re planning a relaxed outdoor celebration or a lively indoor reception with a twist, Bella Cavalli Events in Aubrey offers an unforgettable setting that your guests—and your photographer!—will absolutely love.

The Barn at Paradise – Paradise, TX

A Venue With Plenty of Room to Celebrate

Tucked away in Paradise, TX, The Barn at Paradise is a spacious, 8,000-square-foot wedding venue. It blends industrial farmhouse style with modern design and rustic charm. The two-story white shiplap barn features concrete floors and large, light-filled windows. Copper chandeliers add elegance while keeping the overall vibe relaxed and inviting. It’s perfect for couples who want a clean, contemporary look with warm, country-inspired details.

The spacious layout can accommodate up to 300 guests, making it perfect for larger weddings and events. It includes a full catering kitchen, indoor/outdoor bar, and a charming wraparound porch. The porch overlooks a peaceful pond—one of my favorite spots for romantic sunset portraits. Upstairs, the balcony provides a beautiful view of the dance floor below. It keeps the space feeling open, inviting, and perfect for celebrating with loved ones.

The bridal suite is a definite highlight at The Barn at Paradise. It features a full beauty bar and luxurious clawfoot tub. Large windows fill the space with soft, natural light—perfect for dreamy pre-ceremony photos. With thoughtful amenities and a spacious layout, this venue offers both charm and flexibility. The Barn at Paradise is full of personality and stunning photo opportunities at every turn.

Final Thoughts

Each of these Texas wedding venues offers something special – whether it’s storybook charm, luxury lodging, or goats and Friesian horses (seriously, what’s not to love?). As a wedding photographer, I’m always looking for locations that not only look incredible in photos but feel amazing in person. These five venues deliver on both fronts, and I’d shoot at any of them again in a heartbeat.
