If you’re searching for the best engagement photo locations in Dallas-Fort Worth, you’re in the right place! I’m Josie, the photographer behind Moxie Artistry, and I’ve been capturing weddings and portraits for over 15 years.

First of all: congratu-freakin’-lations! 🥂

Whether your engagement happened during a quiet moment at home, on an unforgettable trip, or somewhere completely unexpected, it’s a huge life milestone worth celebrating.

And if you’re anything like most couples right after saying “yes,” you’re probably already asking:

“Okay….soooo, what now?”

That’s where I come in.

Engagement sessions are one of the first chances to slow down and document this season in a way that feels honest, connected, and a little cinematic. They’re not just about getting pretty photos for save-the-dates (though we absolutely get those too). They’re about capturing the feel of this chapter before everything starts moving fast again.

From a photographer’s perspective, here are some of the best engagement photo locations in Dallas–Fort Worth – places that are visually striking, emotionally rich, and actually fun to shoot at.

You know the photos I’m talking about:

  • The ones you use for your save the dates
  • The ones that go on your wedding invitations
  • The ones you use to officially announce this huge life moment
  • And the ones that give you an excuse to get all dolled up, do your hair, wear a chic outfit and absolutely slay the day

Yeah, you know exactly what I mean. Those photos.

Best Engagement Photo Locations in Dallas–Fort Worth (Photographer-Approved)

Below are some of my go-to engagement photo locations in the Dallas–Fort Worth area that consistently deliver beautiful light, strong composition, and a variety of backdrops for storytelling:

Adriatica Village, McKinney

If you’re looking for a European-inspired engagement photo location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Adriatica Village is one of the most charming spots in North Texas. Inspired by a Croatian coastal village, this hidden gem in McKinney features stone architecture, waterfront views, cobblestone streets, ivy-covered buildings, and romantic little corners around almost every turn.

One of the things couples love most about Adriatica Village is how versatile it feels during a session. You can capture elegant, upscale portraits near the waterfront, cozy European street-style photos along the pathways, and soft romantic sunset images all within walking distance. It’s especially beautiful in the evening when the village lights begin to glow and reflect off the water – this is a great spot for “blue hour”!

FYI: Because Adriatica Village is a popular photography destination, weekdays usually offer the best experience for avoiding crowds.

Tandy Hills, Fort Worth

If you’re dreaming of engagement photos with tall prairie grass, rolling hills, wildflowers, and wide-open Texas skies, Tandy Hills is one of the most unique locations in Fort Worth. Just minutes from downtown, this protected natural area feels surprisingly removed from the city and gives sessions a more adventurous, organic feel.

Tandy Hills is especially beautiful during golden hour, when the light hits the hills and grass with that warm, glowy look North Texas photographers love. In the spring, the trails are surrounded by native wildflowers, while summer and fall bring soft golden fields and skyline views in the distance.

FYI: Tandy Hills does require a photography permit, which costs $150. So make sure to include that in your budgetary concerns when booking your session with either me or your favorite photographer!

Kimbell Art Museum, Fort Worth

For couples who love clean architecture, timeless elegance, and an editorial-inspired feel, the Kimbell Art Museum is one of the most iconic engagement photo locations in Fort Worth. The museum’s soft concrete architecture, curved archways, and natural light create a stunning backdrop that photographs beautifully year-round. One of the best parts about this location is its versatility – you can create everything from modern, upscale portraits to softer romantic images without needing to travel between spots.

The surrounding grounds also provide beautiful greenery and open spaces that help balance the architectural look with a more natural feel. It’s especially popular for couples wanting engagement photos that feel elevated, artistic, and timeless.

Dallas Arboretum, Dallas

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is easily one of the most beautiful garden engagement photo locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. With seasonal flowers, waterfront views, manicured pathways, and lush greenery, it’s a dream location for couples wanting colorful and romantic engagement photos.

Every season brings something different here. Spring is famous for its massive tulip displays and colorful blooms, while summer and fall offer vibrant gardens, greenery, and gorgeous sunset light near White Rock Lake. Even during the quieter winter months, the grounds still photograph beautifully thanks to the elegant landscaping throughout the property.

Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Fort Worth

A classic for a reason. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is one of the most versatile engagement photo locations in Fort Worth thanks to its wide variety of gardens, walking paths, bridges, and seasonal blooms.

One of the biggest reasons couples love this location is the variety. The Japanese Garden offers peaceful ponds, stone pathways, and beautiful bridges, while the surrounding gardens provide colorful flowers, greenery, and more open natural spaces. It’s easy to create multiple different looks during a single session here.

This spot is especially beautiful during spring and early summer when flowers are blooming throughout the gardens, though it photographs well year-round.

FYI: The FWBG does charge a photography fee of $45 (entry fee + photography permit for the premises.)

Sundance Square / Downtown Fort Worth / Tarrant County Courthouse

For couples wanting an urban engagement session with a classic Fort Worth feel, downtown Fort Worth offers some of the best city-style photo locations in DFW. Areas around Sundance Square and the Tarrant County Courthouse combine historic architecture, city streets, classy storefronts, and skyline views all within walking distance.

This area works especially well for couples who want a mix of elegant architecture and modern downtown energy. The courthouse provides a timeless, historic backdrop, while Sundance Square adds texture, lights, brick streets, and a more lively city atmosphere.

Downtown Fort Worth is also incredibly versatile because sessions can easily transition from polished editorial-style portraits to more candid city-street moments.

Airfield Falls Park, Fort Worth

Hidden gem alert! If you love nature but want something a little different from traditional gardens, Airfield Falls Trailhead & Conservation Park is a beautiful location in Fort Worth.

Known for having the largest natural waterfall in Fort Worth, this park offers wooded trails, rocky paths, bridges, and scenic water features that create a more adventurous and outdoorsy feel. It’s especially pretty during spring and after periods of rain when the waterfall is flowing more heavily.

One of the best parts about Airfield Falls is that it feels peaceful and tucked away despite being located within the city.

Fort Worth Water Gardens

The Fort Worth Water Gardens is one of the most unique engagement photo locations in DFW thanks to its dramatic architecture, geometric lines, and flowing water features. The mix of concrete textures, cascading water, and striking symmetry creates a bold and modern aesthetic that feels very different from traditional park sessions. It’s especially popular for couples wanting artistic, editorial-style engagement photos with an urban edge.

Because the Water Gardens sit near downtown Fort Worth, many couples also combine this location with Sundance Square or nearby city streets for additional variety during their session.
