This Chandor Gardens proposal was already going to be sweet, but Faizan had one more little surprise planned for the end that absolutely got me. 🥹
He reached out awhile back with plans to surprise his girlfriend, Kiran, during a Saturday morning visit to Chandor Gardens in Weatherford.
They’ve been together for a couple of years after meeting in possibly one of the cutest (and slightly old-fashioned) ways: a blind date. Obviously, whoever set these two up knew what they were doing!
Faizan had the proposal planned, I knew where to be, and Kiran had absolutely no idea what was coming.
Spoiler alert: she said yes!

A Saturday Morning Surprise
Why Morning Works So Well at Chandor Gardens
Faizan brought Kiran to Chandor Gardens on a warm Saturday morning (which, the morning is the best time go if you’re planning on any kind of session at Chandor. Especially in the Texas heat, the morning is nice and cool, has lots of shade with pretty lighting, annnnnd there’s less people 😉 ), somehow managing to keep the whole thing a surprise.
The Moment Faizan Got Down on One Knee
After doing a little dodging on my end to stay out of their view, they finally reached the spot we had planned. Faizan gave Kiran the cutest little speech, got down on one knee, and asked the big question.
Kiran was completely surprised. There may have been a tiny bit of crying involved. 🥹 And, of course….she said yes!
Once the initial shock wore off and she had a second to process the fact that she was officially engaged – with a gorgeous ring, no less – we started wandering around the gardens for a fun little photo adventure.

Just-Engaged Photos Around Chandor Gardens
Turning the Proposal Into a Mini Engagement Session
One of my favorite things about photographing proposals is getting both sides of the story: First, you get the nerves, the surprise, the reaction, and all of those completely unscripted moments.
Then the big secret is finally out: everyone can relax and the rest basically turns into a mini engagement session!
We spent about an hour wandering through Chandor Gardens and stopping anywhere that caught my eye. Between the greenery, architecture, pathways, and all the little tucked-away corners throughout the property, there is plenty to work with.
But before we wrapped up for the morning, Faizan still had one more surprise up his sleeve for Kiran.

One Last Surprise Before We Left
Making Sure Her Fur Baby Was Part of the Day ❤︎
Before the proposal, Faizan had confided in me about something Kiran had told him in the past: If he ever proposed, she wanted her cat there.
Her cat is her baby and has spent their entire relationship cozying up with the two of them. And as a fellow fur-baby person, I completely understand this request!
There was just one tiny problem…Her cat isn’t really an outdoor cat. And showing up to Chandor Gardens carrying Kiran’s cat would have been a pretty solid clue that this wasn’t just a casual Saturday morning outing. 😂
So Faizan came up with the next best thing. So Faizan came up with the next best thing.
At the very end of our session, he brought out a white blanket, a few bouquets of flowers, and several printed photos. He and I quickly sacrificed a few roses to scatter petals around the blanket, because obviously we had to make it cute. 😉
Kiran was completely surprised all over again! (There mayyy have even been another tiny round of happy tears.)
But like, I’m sorry – HOW CUTE IS THAT? 🥹
He remembered this little thing she had told him, knew how important her cat was to her, and found a way to make sure he was still part of the day!
Like, he legit likes her, guys. What’s the saying? Ah: If he wanted to, he would.

Planning Your Own Chandor Gardens Proposal?
Make the Proposal Feel Like Your Person
If you’re planning a surprise proposal, my biggest advice is to make it feel like your person.
It doesn’t need to involve some enormous setup or a hundred candles. Sometimes the sweetest part is simply remembering something they told you months ago and finding a way to work it into the day.
Those little details are usually the ones that hit the hardest.
If you’re planning a Chandor Gardens proposal, a surprise engagement somewhere around Weatherford or Fort Worth, or you just need someone to hide behind a bush with a camera while you ask a very important question, I’m your girl. 🥰
