This golden hour Fort Worth engagement session with Alexandra and James had a little bit of everything. We found historic architecture, moody sunset light, prosecco, rooftop views, and one brief encounter with parking garage security. 😱
Starting at Bass Performance Hall
We began the evening in front of Bass Performance Hall. Its grand architecture always makes an incredible backdrop for downtown engagement photos. Thankfully, Alexandra and James quickly settled into the session! We walked, laughed, and kept everything relaxed instead of forcing them through a list of stiff poses.

Moody Photos in Sundance Square
From Bass Hall, we walked over to Sundance Square. We reached the pavilion just as the light started to shift. The cloudy sunset gave us a soft, moody atmosphere. The pavilion added plenty of drama without pulling attention away from Alexandra and James.
Downtown Fort Worth makes exploring easy. Every corner offers another building, alleyway, or little pocket of unique light.

Golden Hour Engagement in Downtown Fort Worth
Next, we made our way to the Tarrant County Courthouse. The sun finally came through and gave us the prettiest golden light on the steps. These photos felt more classic and romantic than the moodier images from earlier. I just love when one session can offer several completely different looks.
Afterward, Alexandra and James popped a bottle of prosecco to celebrate.
James took one sip and quickly decided it wasn’t for him. So like a good fiancé, he poured the rest of his glass into Alexandra’s – more for her! 🥂😂
A Very Brief Rooftop Adventure
We ended the session on the rooftop of a nearby parking garage. Downtown Fort Worth stretched out behind them while the last of the sunlight hit the surrounding buildings. The rooftop gave us some of my favorite images from the entire session!
Unfortunately, security soon found us and politely explained that professional photography wasn’t allowed on the rooftop. It felt a little odd; someone taking the same photo with a phone probably wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow. Thankfully, we had already captured the shots we needed, so I’ll call that a win! 😎
This golden hour Fort Worth engagement was playful, romantic, and just unpredictable enough to keep things interesting. From Bass Hall and Sundance Square to the courthouse steps and our brief rooftop adventure, Alexandra and James made the entire evening so much fun to photograph!
