This Weatherford courthouse wedding began with a quiet morning of portraits at Chandor Gardens before Anna and Andrew made their way downtown to officially say “I do.”

Their celebration was small and simple, but that didn’t mean the photography had to feel rushed or like an afterthought! By meeting at the gardens before the ceremony, we had time to slow down, explore, and create a gorgeous collection of wedding portraits without the pressure of a packed traditional timeline – all before the Texas heat really kicked in. 😉

Wedding Portraits at Chandor Gardens

We started the morning at Chandor Gardens, one of my all-time favorite photography locations in Weatherford!

Between the vibrant flowers, lush greenery, winding paths, and tucked-away corners, the gardens gave us plenty of variety without needing to travel between several locations. Every turn offered a completely different backdrop.

It also gave Anna and Andrew a chance to spend some time together before the courthouse ceremony. There was no rushing from one formal wedding event to another. We could simply walk, take photographs, and settle into the day.

That slower pace is one of the many reasons I love photographing intimate weddings and elopements! Couples have more freedom to build the experience around what matters most to them instead of following a long list of traditions they don’t really care about. It can also take so much stress out of the day.

An Intimate Weatherford Courthouse Wedding

After finishing their portraits, we made our way to the Parker County Courthouse in downtown Weatherford.

Courthouse weddings may be simple, but the moment itself is still incredibly meaningful. There is something so sweet about stripping the day down to its most important purpose: two people choosing to begin the next chapter of their lives together.

The historic courthouse also gives couples a classic setting without requiring a traditional wedding venue. Between the architecture, downtown streets, and courthouse steps, there are plenty of opportunities to make even a short ceremony feel like a complete wedding experience. 😊

Small Weddings Can Still Feel Intentional

One of the biggest misconceptions about courthouse weddings is that they have to feel rushed, overly casual, or somehow less special than a larger celebration.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that they can be every bit as meaningful—if not more so—than a traditional wedding.

Adding portraits at a separate location gives you space to dress up, enjoy the day, and create photographs that reflect more than the few minutes spent inside the courthouse. You can bring family, plan a nice dinner afterward, pop a bottle of champagne, or keep everything quiet and private.

There is no single correct way to get married. The best plans are usually the ones that genuinely fit the couple.
