The Best Senior Photo Locations in Fort Worth & DFW area

One of the best parts about planning your senior portraits is figuring out where the heck we’re going to take them!

Your location can completely change the feel of your photos. Maybe you want something clean and modern, colorful and full of flowers, dramatic and urban, or a wide-open field with gorgeous golden-hour light.

Thankfully, there are some seriously good senior photo locations in Fort Worth and throughout the surrounding DFW area. And no, you do ✨not✨ have to spend your entire session standing next to the same tree. 😂

These are a few of my favorites – and they’re all places where I’ve actually photographed senior sessions before!

Kimbell Art Museum | Modern & Editorial Senior Photos

If you want your senior photos to feel clean, modern, polished, and a little editorial, the Kimbell Art Museum is hard to beat. The neutral architecture gives us tons of clean lines, unique shapes, water features, open spaces, and simple backgrounds that really let you stand out.

I especially love the Kimbell for seniors who want something a little more fashion-forward or elevated without feeling overly formal. It also works really well with multiple outfits because the neutral setting doesn’t compete with what you’re wearing!

A dressier outfit can look amazing here, but so can jeans, boots, sneakers, or something with a little more personality.

Best for: Modern architecture, editorial portraits, neutral tones, dressier outfits, and seniors who want something different from a field or park.

Fort Worth Botanic Garden | Colorful & Romantic Senior Photos

Of all the senior photo locations in Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden is one of my favorites! It gives us lush greenery, flowers, pathways, stonework, water features, and a ton of variety without having to drive between locations.

That’s one of my favorite things about it for senior portraits. Your gallery doesn’t have to look like we stood in one garden bed for an hour. 😂 We can wander around and create several completely different looks during the same session.

It’s perfect for seniors who want something colorful, soft, romantic, or classic. Flowy dresses photograph beautifully here, but casual outfits work just as well!

Best for: Flowers, greenery, romantic portraits, colorful galleries, multiple looks, and seniors who want lots of variety.

Fort Worth Water Gardens | Dramatic & Urban Senior Photos

Want something a little less traditional? The Fort Worth Water Gardens are such a fun option because they feel completely different from your typical park or garden.

Between the concrete architecture, geometric lines, stairs, water, and downtown surroundings, we can create portraits that feel much more urban and dramatic.

It’s also one of those locations where we can get artsy and editorial without every photo looking super posed or serious. There’s still plenty of room for relaxed, natural portraits too!

Best for: Urban senior portraits, dramatic architecture, bold outfits, editorial photos, and seniors wanting something unique.

Tandy Hills | Golden-Hour Senior Photos in Fort Worth

If your dream senior photos involve tall grass, open skies, rolling hills, and dreamy golden light, Tandy Hills is probs your spot.

It’s one of my favorite locations for that natural, slightly wild Texas look. Somehow it feels like we drove way outside Fort Worth even though we’re still right in the city.

There is more walking involved here than at some of the other locations on this list. Since it’s a protected natural area, we also stay on the designated trails and work with the landscape rather than wandering wherever we want.

Buuuuut if you don’t mind a little exploring, the payoff can be gorgeous!

Best for: Golden hour, tall grasses, earthy outfits, cowboy boots, natural portraits, and seniors who don’t mind a little walking.

A Heads-Up Before Choosing Tandy Hills

Photography here requires a Fort Worth Parks & Recreation permit, so that’s something we’ll need to plan for beforehand.

UPDATE 10/19/26 Important things you should know: I’ve been informed that this location has recently been known to be frequented by local neighbors harassing photographers + running them off. One person in particular has been especially obnoxious, even getting physical (damaging vehicles, getting into faces, etc.) – even when photographers have permits – which is quite unfortunate. I’ve been told that when they’re shown that a photographer has a permit, and that said photographer is willing to call the police to settle the situation, the person will then finally relent. While I have personally never dealt with this, I won’t say that caution isn’t due. So, do with that information what you will.

TCU Campus | Senior Photos That Actually Mean Something

For TCU students and graduates, this one is kind of a no-brainer. 💜

Your senior portraits don’t always have to be about choosing the objectively “prettiest” location. Sometimes the best backdrop is somewhere that actually represents this chapter of your life – whether you’re celebrating the years you’ve spent at TCU or getting ready to start a brand-new season there after high school. 😊

Photographing around the TCU campus gives us the chance to incorporate beautiful architecture, walkways, greenery, and all of those recognizable little details that give the photos a true college-campus feel.

Bring the cap and gown, champagne, TCU gear, your class ring, or whatever else feels like you. We can create the classic graduation photos Mom wants while still mixing in more relaxed portraits that don’t scream “graduation announcement.”

And here’s the thing: you don’t actually have to attend TCU to take senior photos here! If you love the collegiate look and want that classic campus backdrop for your senior session, TCU is a beautiful option! It gives us plenty of variety and that polished college feel without your session needing to be specifically TCU-themed.

Best for: TCU seniors and graduates, incoming college students, cap-and-gown portraits, school spirit, and seniors who love a classic collegiate backdrop.

How Do You Choose the Best Location for Your Senior Photos?

Whether you’re drawn to gardens, modern architecture, downtown views, or golden-hour fields, there are plenty of senior photo locations in Fort Worth and beyond to fit your style. Don’t choose a location just because you’ve seen someone else’s senior photos there – think about how you want your gallery to feel!

Your outfits matter too! A flowy dress may look amazing surrounded by flowers or tall grass, while a bold or more fashion-forward outfit can absolutely shine against more sleek or modern architecture like the Kimbell or Water Gardens.

Annnnd we don’t necessarily have to stick to one look! That’s one of the advantages of booking a longer (60min+) senior session. With enough time, we can explore, change outfits, and create a gallery that shows more than one side of your personality.

The goal isn’t just to find a pretty backdrop, it’s to choose somewhere that feels like you! After all, this session is all about celebrating you! 😊
